Race Rules & Safety
The course may only be ridden by the riders during the events and official training periods.
All other persons must be kept clear of the course.
RACE CANCELLATION
In the event of bad weather the Race Director may decide to cancel the event after consulting the organizing committee, team managers, and riders. Safety of riders and marshals are our utmost priority in the decision making process.
BEFORE THE START
The racers must report attandence themselves to secretariat tent starting from 7.00am to 9. 00am. Prior to race day, access to the race track shall be subject to the laws in force and local rules governing the event venue. During race day, access to the circuit will be limited and under the responsibilities of the marshals to ensure safety guidelines are followed at all times.
MARSHALS
Marshals will all be equipped with a whistle and those located at strategic points (to be defined by the organizing committee). Marshals will be positioned so as to provide a radio link covering the whole course. An appointed Marshal Coordinator will liaise with the Commissaire/Race Director in the running and the safety aspects of the race.
CONDUCT OF RIDERS
A rider must act in a sporting manner at all times and shall permit any faster rider to overtake without obstructing.
If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course at the same point from which he/she exited.
The riders must respect nature and shall make sure that they do not pollute the course venue.
EQUIPMENT
The use of radio links or other remote means of communication with riders is forbidden. The use of tyres fitted with metal spikes or screws is not permitted.
PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
An approved full-face helmets, Gloves & goggles MUST be worn both when racing, seeding and training on the course.
PGDH & PCA strongly recommends that riders wear the following protection :
· Back, elbow, knee and shoulder protectors made of rigid materials;
· padding on shins and thighs
· Full-length tights with protectors
· Long sleeved shirt
· Full finger gloves
RACE FORMAT
A single run format will be used.
A seeding run that determines the start order for a single run in which the rider with the fastest time wins, as used for the world championships.
PRACTICE & TRAINING
A foot inspection of the course is highly recommended before the first training session.
A training session without breaks the day prior to the competition. No training is permitted whilst a race is in progress.
